JEA Receives Mayor’s Environmental Award
JEA was honored with the Mayor’s Environmental Award for its Reclaimed Water System during the City’s 2016 Environmental Luncheon. The annual event highlights the efforts of our area’s finest and most creative environmental stewards who have gone above and beyond to promote practices that protect and enrich our community.
The Government/Institutional award stated, “JEA has built one of the largest interconnected reclaimed water systems in the state. The ongoing investment in and development of JEA’s reclaimed water system grew out of two recognized environmental needs – to minimize withdrawals from the Floridan Aquifer and to reduce the discharge of nutrients from JEA’s wastewater plants to the St. Johns River.”
