Project Objective

A contractor working for JEA (Petticoat-Schmitt Civil Contractors, Inc.) is continuing work on a project to replace a portion of aging sanitary sewer force main along 5th Street from Imeson Street to Melson Avenue.

JEA is installing an additional force main in to ensure the reliability of the JEA sewer system and to provide for future growth in the area. Sanitary sewer force mains are pressurized sewer pipes used to transport sewage to JEA wastewater treatment plants.

Construction Conditions

Construction is taking place in the City of Jacksonville rights-of-way and easements. For the safety of our crews and the general public, temporary lane closures we will be required along Picketville Road while the new sewer line is being installed.

These temporary road closures will take place Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.*

Note: Dates and times are highly subject to change.

JEA will also be required to close and detour Picketville Road in the near future to install the sewer main across the road. This work will occur on the weekend during low traffic periods. JEA will notify residents and businesses of the closure via email and message boards prior to the work. Residents and businesses will have access to their properties and be permitted to drive (with caution) within the project work area.

Please observe all construction signs, detours and general directions provided by the crews working on site. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this work.

Restoration of the Project Area

Restoration of the project area began after the new sewer line has been installed, tested and cleared for use. Upon completion of the project, any existing pavement, grass, curb, gutter, driveways or sidewalks affected during construction are returned pre-construction condition.
